The U.S. Congress decreed the second Saturday of December as “National Wreaths Across America Day.”  GA Mountain Chapter of MOAA (GMCMOAA) is working with Wreaths Across America (WAA) this year to obtain fresh balsam wreaths for veteran graves at Canton National Cemetery on December 16, 2017.  GMCMOAA is affiliated with, but not legally part of WAA.  Wreath donations are $15 a wreath.  For assisting WAA in obtaining wreath donations, GMCMOAA receives $5 for each donated wreath.  The Veterans Wreath symbolized four attributes: Evergreen – Longevity & Endurance; Red Bow – Great Sacrifice; Forest Scent – Purity & Simplicity; Circular Shape – Eternity and is a symbol of honor and respect.  Last year GMCMOAA obtain 122 wreath donations for our veteran’s graves at Canton.  For those interested in helping with this project, please see this informational flyer 2017 WreathSponsorship Form GMOAA .  Additional information can also be found at Wreaths Across America and at Lumpkin County Veterans Affairs Committee .
