Governor Nathan Deal has issued a disaster declaration for all 159 Georgia counties, which includes Lumpkin County. FEMA Director Brock has also signed off on the order. At this point, the only things covered by the declaration are protective measures taken by the county and debris removal from county roads. At a later date, a FEMA representative will be on site to complete reviews and determine if we qualify for individual assistance. Our county’s Emergency Management staff are working to gather damage data and individuals who sustained damage are strongly encouraged to use GEMA’s online reporting tool, found at https://gema-soc.maps.arcgis.com/apps/GeoForm/index.html?appid=bad9f331043d47389ae9cc56738d46d3. County officials are able to access this tool, so reporting your individual damage directly to GEMA will greatly assist both the county and GEMA with the necessary assessments.
We are still in the recovery process and at this time there is no action for the county to take other than the previously mentioned data gathering and our continued work to open roads and remove debris.
