COVID-19 Guidelines

An Administrative Order Regarding Wearing of Face Mask and Social Distancing in the Lumpkin County Courthouse was entered by Chief Judge Raymond E. George on June 24, 2020.  Said Order provides that all persons shall wear a face mask or face covering when entering the Courthouse and shall continue to wear a face mask or face covering at all times while in the public areas of the Courthouse.  All persons entering the Courthouse shall be screened for cough, fever and recent exposure to COVID-19.  Individuals with a temperature of 100.4 degrees or greater will not be permitted to enter the Courthouse.

Weapons Carry Licenses

Weapons Carry Applications, both new and renewals, are being processed by appointment only  This will allow our office to be in compliance with CDC social distancing guidelines.  Please contact the Probate Court at 706-864-3847 to schedule an appointment.  You will also need to complete the online application prior to your appointment time.  

The fee for a new application is $78.25.  The fee for a renewal is $35.00.  The Probate Court accepts cash, check, money order or credit/debit cards.  If you choose to pay with a credit/debit card, a processing fee will apply.  Renewals are issued 90 days prior to expiration or up to 30 days after expiration.  Please note that if your current permit expired between February 16, 2020 and June 12, 2020, during the time of the Judicial Emergency, you will be eligible for a renewal within 120 days after the expiration date on the face of the license.  Thereafter, you will need to apply for a new permit.  Click here for further licensing information.

Effective August 2, 2020, the fee for a Weapons Carry License will increase to $78.25.

Marriage Licenses

Marriage License Applications are issued during normal office hours.  Please complete the online application prior to appearing in the office.  This will help allow our office to be in compliance with CDC social distancing guidelines.

The fee for a marriage license is $76.00.  If you have attended premarital counseling and are able to provide proof of counseling at the time of application, the fee is $36.00. Traffic Violations

Traffic citations may be paid online at www.ezcourtpay.com.  Please note that some citations require a mandatory court appearance and these citations will not be able to be paid prior to the Court date.  You may also pay in person or by mail.  The Probate Court accepts cash, check, money order or credit/debit cards.  If you choose to pay with a credit/debit card, a processing fee will apply.  

Should you wish to contest your traffic citation or discuss your citation with the Prosecutor, you must appear on your Court date.  

Estates and Guardianships

Vital Records

Birth and Death Certificates are issued in person or by mail.  For mail requests, please use the birth certificate request form.  The fee is $25 for one copy and $5 for each additional copy, per person, per visit.  The Probate Court accepts cash, check, money order or credit/debit cards.  If you choose to pay with a credit/debit card, a processing fee will apply.  Click here for more information on birth certificates.  Click here for more information on death certificates.
