Senior Center Update February 16, 2021

Effective February 16, 2021 SilverSneakers indoor fitness classes will resume on Tuesdays and Wednesdays only at 9:30am.  The classes will be held in the gym at the Lumpkin County Park & Recreation building.  Chairs will be placed 10ft apart and participants are asked to wear a mask except when actually exercising.


 Use of the fitness equipment will resume on March 15, 2021 and will be by appointment only.  Call the Senior Center at 706-864-2358 to schedule a time.


No other inside activities are scheduled to resume at this time. Resuming other activities will be reviewed the beginning of April, 2021.


The Meals on Wheels Program is fully operational and participants of the Nutritional Congregate Program are receiving daily hot meals as well as virtual activities.

Tai Chi for Health

Tai Chi is a slow and gentle meditative exercise that originated in ancient China. Benefits include improved flexibility, increased muscle strength, improved fitness and improved balance for fall prevention. Chairs will be used in this class to assist with balance as needed. Wear comfortable clothing that allows for movement.

  • Instructors:  Angie Elmore and Gale Blankenship  Both are certified Tai Chi Instructors
  • Monday & Wednesday 10:30am to 11:15am

  • Friday 10:30am to 11:15am

Tai Chi for Heart Conditions
