What are the qualifications to register to vote?

  • You must be a US Citizen and a resident of Lumpkin County.
  • Must be at least 17 1/2 to register and 18 years of age by Election Day to vote.
  • Not serving a sentence for a felony involving moral turpitude.
  • Not have been judicially declared mentally incompetent.

Please ensure that you complete sections 1-6 on the application, check both boxes in section 6, and sign the application. Failure to complete these sections could delay your application and possibly result in your application being rejected.

In Person

You can complete an application in person at the Elections Office, Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM.

What happens after I submit my application?

Once the Elections Office receives your application, your application will be processed. If your application cannot be processed, you will be contacted by our office. Otherwise, you will be registered to vote and will receive a precinct card within three to four weeks.

How do I register my party affiliation?

In Georgia, voters do not register under a particular party. 

What could prevent my application from being processed?

  • Failure to complete the required sections of the application.
  • Not meeting the requirements to register to vote in Georgia.

When do I need to submit my application to be eligible to vote in Lumpkin County?

All applications must be submitted prior to the registration deadline established by Georgia law. Please check the elections calendar or contact the Elections Office for any upcoming voter registration deadlines.

Can I register at my PO Box address?

No, by Georgia law, you must provide your residence address on the application. You may choose to provide a mailing address where you will receive all official mail, but a residence address is needed to place you within the correct voting district.
