The 10-Year
Lumpkin County / City of Dahlonega Solid Waste Management Plan 2004
Draft
For the First time in over ten years, the City of Dahlonega and Lumpkin County have participated
in a joint planning effort. Commissioner Steve Gooch and The City
Council are proud to have a draft version of the county/city Ten-Year Solid Waste Management Plan finished.
The draft plan
was submitted to the Georgia Mountains Regional Development Center
for a required regional review before being forwarded to the Georgia Department of
Community Affairs for final review by the state's Solid Waste Program Coordinator,
Mary Harrington.
County and city staff and elected officials are proud of their
combined efforts in this planning initiative, particularly remarkable, considering that all efforts
toward creating the multi-jurisdictional plan were conducted in-house at
no extra cost to either county or city taxpayers.
Special thanks go to:
Kevin C.
Flanagan, County Environmental Compliance Officer
Blair
B. Housley, County GIS Division Director
Chris
Head, City Planning and Zoning Director
Janet
Jarrard, City Clerk
Bill
Lewis, City Manager
for both their patience and efforts in creating the
Solid Waste Management Plan draft.
The Solid Waste Plan analyzes current county/city efforts and will guide both
governments over the next ten years with respect to solid waste and recycling programs and activities. The
following links provide viewing of the solid waste draft plan, the required implementation chart of
future goals in solid waste and recycling services, and the county's draft Land Limitation Assessment
Map for potential future solid waste facility developments.
