Don was originally hired as Emergency Management director in January 1974 and was appointed Emergency Medical Services Director in 1975. He was appointed Director of the 911 Emergency Program in 1995. He is a Certified Paramedic, a Registered Communications Officer, and has obtained his Emergency Management Masters Certification. He has served as Chairman of the Region 2 EMS Council for the past 10 years and currently serves on the Governor’s 911 Advisory Board. Don received the Governor’s EMA Public Safety Award in 1999 as well as other honors from the Governor, the Georgia Emergency Management Agency, the Lumpkin County Commissioner, and the Dahlonega City Mayor.
