Greg graduated from the University of Georgia College of Agriculture and Environmental Sciences in 1978. He worked for the University of Georgia in agricultural research and as county agent in Wilkinson and Lamar counties before coming to Lumpkin county in 1994. He received a Master's Degree in Public Administration from North Georgia College and State University in 1999. He is an ISA Certified Arborist, a Certified Nutrient Management Planning Specialist, and member of the National Association of County Agricultural Agents and the Association of Natural Resource Extension Professionals.
