More 2020 SPLOST Facts
SPLOST programs have become a popular way for local governments to fund capital projects without raising property taxes. The penny tax is paid by everyone in the community including visitors. On May 22, 2018, Lumpkin County voters will consider a SPLOST continuation referendum. Proposed projects are: Economic development, roads and bridges equipment, vehicles, resurfacing, improvements, Library, Sheriff’s Department equipment and vehicles, Water Authority system improvements, City of Dahlonega roads and bridges resurfacing and improvements, storm-water infrastructure and water and sewer system improvements. It is estimated that the SPLOST will generate $18,900,000 towards these projects.
