Victim's Advocate

Victims Supported

The Lumpkin County Sheriff’s Office provides support to victims of crime, and that support is achieved through a high level of professionalism, integrity, honesty, and courage. The Victim Advocate is on call 24 hours a day, seven days a week, and acts a first responder to crimes involving child molestation, rape, and sexual assault. In addition to these crimes, the Victim Advocate also works with victims of:

  • Child abuse
  • Domestic violence
  • Fatality accidents
  • Homicides
  • Hostage/barricaded gunman
  • Lost persons/child
  • Persons shot or stabbed
  • Suicide or attempted suicide

Services Provided

The Victim Advocate will give referrals to counseling and community services, along with educational resources and other helpful information. The Victim Advocate will offer continued emotional support throughout the investigation and case. The Victim Advocate will educate the victim on the criminal justice system, provide the victim with updates on the case, and attend court with the victim.
